“Keep-It-In-The-Ground” Tries to Shut Down Hickenlooper Event as Democrats Reject Their Extreme Agenda

Anti-fracking activists attempted to shut down a panel discussion on energy hosted by POLITICO featuring Colorado’s Governor John Hickenlooper, shouting at the Democrat and even unfurling a large banner outside of the event. But as EID’s new infographic shows, prominent national Democrats are not signing on with the “Keep-It-In-The-Ground” (KIITG) anti-fossil-fuel agenda.

Despite the theatrics, Hickenlooper voiced his support of oil and natural gas development. As the Denver Post reports:
“When the protesters first interrupted the Politico event, the governor had just finished talking about how he opposes local bans on fracking — including one headed to the ballot in Colorado — because it would equate to taking a mineral-rights owner’s personal property. That only works, he said “in Russia or China.””
Hickenlooper is no stranger to radical stunts: his book event was also disrupted by KIITG activists who were, as the Boulder Daily Camera put it, “acting like ten year old kids.” This latest attempt to shut down debate on fracking comes as the governor is set for a prime time address at the DNC, making him one of many prominent national Democrats who rejects the anti-fossil fuel agenda being pus...
