Laboratory Technician – Catalyst LaboratoryÂ
Chevron; Richmond, CA, US
Overview:
This position is specific to work activities pertaining to the Experimental Systems Unit-Catalyst Laboratory. The Laboratory Technician has a thorough knowledge and understanding of safe laboratory work practices and is responsible for conducting routine lab work including synthesis, and wet chemistry and preparation of catalyst samples.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Prepares laboratory size catalysts on specialized equipment for mixing, extruding drying and calcining.
- Prepares small catalyst samples for analytical inspections, micro-unit or pilot plant testing.
- Prepares complex metal solutions.
- Performs metal separation and purification procedures by solvent extraction.
- Performs physical tests on laboratory and commercial catalysts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience.
- Experience in wet chemistry procedures and analytical techniques.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in separating and purifying metals from complex solutions.
- Synthesis of catalyst materials.
